She was Karen, a 24-year-old who had migrated in search of better opportunities but became entangled in a human trafficking network. Her case is featured in the Netflix documentary series *El Portal: The Hidden Story of Zona Divas*, for which a team of journalists conducted an investigation over nearly three years. The series aims to share some of the challenges journalists face in accessing sources of information and to discuss the opportunities that documentary filmmaking on streaming platforms offers.
